Bloons Conception Wiki

Gwendolin is a hero in CSBTD7, who retains her role in BTD6. She attacks bloons by shooting fireballs from her flamethrower. Gwendolin is the first female Hero to be unlocked, and the second Hero overall, being unlocked at Level 12. She is a hybrid Hero, providing DPS on her own, as well as giving general buffs to Monkeys in her range.

Gwendolin's base pierce has been increased back to 3, reverting the update 41.0 nerf she got in BTD6, to account for the overall higher Bloon density in this game. Her base cost has been increased to $750 on Medium difficulty to account for that.

General information[]

Gwendolin, full name Gwendolin Clark, was born in the year 62 AB (After Bloons). Her father is Ryan Clark, a firefighter. Her mother is Caroline Jane, whose profession is unknown. Gwendolin has at least one sibling, a younger sister named Harley Clark, who turned to the dark side after being tempted by the Prince of Darkness (The PoD has a habit of taking his enemy's family members to turn against them). Gwendolin was born and raised in Texas, USA, and she now lives in a small Texan town with her firefox pet named Mo Zillah. She has a crush on Quincy.

Gwendolin is a pyromaniac, meaning she is obsessed with fire. She is also quite an energetic person. She is hot-headed, as in short-tempered, and she aspires to be hot, as in flirty. Gwendolin is also a bit tomboyish, as she likes to act in a masculine way. She loves spicy food.

History[]

Gwendolin was born in the year 62 AB, just after the fourth TD War. She has felt a strange attraction towards fire as early as age 5. One day, her mother's family hosted a barbecue party to celebrate some family member's birthday. The five year old Gwendolin noticed the smell of burning coals, and when her parents weren't looking, she decided to investigate. After a while, she found the barbecue, and wanting to investigate further, she burnt her hand trying to touch it. Despite the pain of her hand being burnt, Gwendolin felt a strange satisfaction she never felt before when she was close to the fire. Her parents became worried when they found out, and they suspected their daughter had some form of pyromania. Although she was never officially diagnosed, Gwendolin showed more and more signs of pyromania when growing older.

Gwendolin was 13 years old during the 5th TD War. While her father was away extinguishing fires caused by the Bloons, Gwendolin hid in a bunker with her mother's family. She had secretly smuggled a few fireworks into the bunker. Unfortunately, the Bloons found the bunker and started attacking it. When Gwendolin saw the Bloons approaching, she grabbed some of the fireworks she smuggled into the bunker in an impulsive act of rage and fear, and threw them at the Bloons. When she saw the Bloons burning, Gwendolin felt her destiny to fight Bloons with fire. Despite bringing in dangerous goods into the bunker, she was praised for her heroic act.

After returning home from the 5th TD War, Gwendolin decided to build her own flamethrower that she would use to fight Bloons in the future. After conducting some experiments that often left her with burns, she managed to build a prototype flamethrower. She also made ideas for a better version, but since no new Bloon attacks were coming at that time, she decided to leave her ideas on the backburner. At age 18, Gwendolin joined the engineering sector of the Monkey Military, where she would work on a better flamethrower, and also get the required military training to follow her destiny.

During the 6th TD War, the then 20 year old Gwendolin went to fight at the frontline. Her own flamethrower turned to be pretty powerful, incinerating many Bloons withe ease. She also proved to be a good team captain, earning her the Hero title. She was one of the first to get said title, and she was deemed the most powerful Hero initially. But as more Monkeys earned the Hero title, she got overshadowed by more powerful Heroes. Still, Gwendolin thought she had successfully fulfilled her Bloon-popping destiny. She also found herself to be in love with Quincy, another Hero, but no proposal came yet.

During the 7th TD War, the then 24 year old Gwendolin fought at the frontline once again. This time she had refined her flamethrower further, giving her even more power. During this time Quincy also finally proposed to her, and she happily accepted it.

Changes from BTD6 (Version 52.x)[]

Functional changes:

  • Base cost increased to $750 on Medium difficulty.
  • Base pierce increased to 3, reverting the update 41.0 nerf from BTD6, to account for the overall higher Bloon density.
  • Level 2 pierce increased to 4, Level 5 pierce increased to 6, and Level 13 pierce increased to 9, back to their pre-41.0 amount.
  • Cocktail of Fire pierce increased for most levels, to account for the overall higher Bloon density.
  • Removed the Pyrotechnics buff, as I think it was quite an out of place addition to BTD6. Not all Heroes have to give buffs to similar Monkeys.
  • Level 7 no longer increases Heat it up range. Instead, its range now scales along with Gwendolin's main range at Level 11.
  • Level 11 range increased to 46.
  • Heat it up damage now increases at Level 11 and 17. This is done to better distribute power over levels.
  • Level 14 Cocktail of Fire no longer applies burn DoT to MOAB-Class Bloons, because having one Hero applying three different burn effects gets a little hectic. Instead, the Cocktail now gains a simple damage bonus to MOAB-Class Bloons.
  • Level 20 no longer increases Cocktail of Fire damage. The damage is moved to Level 21.
  • Added Level 21-25 upgrades.

Visual changes:

  • The belt only carries one bottle instead of two.
  • The flame art on the flamethrower's gun muzzle is simpler at Level 10. It becomes more detailed at Level 20.
  • Gwendolin no longer wears her mask at Level 20, but she does wear the visor which is now colored orange. She gains back her mask at Level 25.

Trivia[]

  • In this game, Gwendolin has no voicelines for when a DDT or GHOL apprears, as since she has no direct Camo or Ghost detection, she has no way of noticing they are there. She is one of several Heroes where this is the case.
    • Even when she has been given external Camo/Ghost detection, of the DDT/GHOL in question has had its Camo/Ghost property stripped, Gwendolin won't make any remark about it, as the voicelines are simply absent. The canonical reason for this is that Gwendolin is not used to seeing these Bloon Types, and the sight of it will leave her speechless.
  • Gwendolin's voiceline for when a BLON appears references the fact that BLONs have Purple immunity, which in a sense makes them not flammable.
    • However, it is a bit ironic, as in most realistic scenarios, Gwendolin should reach Level 16 long before the first BLONs arrive, so she should be able to set them on fire at all times anyways.
